A Super Sunday

It was really nice outside yesterday so Tank and I took advantage of it. We bolted for the back yard where the is lots of room to run. We had a blast chasing each other around! I was being SuperDog too. I'd take a running start and leap through the air... right over Tank, three times! It was a lot of fun. (Sorry no pics of that cuz we move too fast.)

Mom went outside and left us in the house. We weren't very happy about that and peered out the window until she came back in. Guess it was for the best though because she had to move her car and didn't want us to get run over.

IMGP4501.jpg

The kids came over for dinner (burgers on the grill) and we noticed Dad pulled out the cheese. We love cheese so we stood right there and stared him down until he gave us some.

IMGP4502.jpg

Mmmm, we just love cheese!! We dance for cheese.

IMGP4503.jpg

Winston came over with the kids and we want to played with him but he was being unsociable. I think it's because Tank is so hyper and Winston doesn't want to put up with him.

IMGP4504.jpg

Poor Winston looks so scruffy. Tank and I think he needs to come over one evening just so Dad can give him a bath and haircut.

We were totally pooped out and both flopped on a couch and fell asleep early last night.

It Was Just A Teaser

Last week the guy in the big truck that picks up our garbage was really nice. He saw me and Tank looking out the window and left us some treats!! Check out the size of that treat. It's as big as Mom's hand!!! Tank was a piggy and ate BOTH of the except for a small end part of the bone that I had.

This morning the guy in the big truck that picks up our garbage came again. We looked out the window and even barked so he would notice us but nothing. We cried when he left.

A Beautiful Day

The sun was shining and it was really nice yesterday so, of course, Zeus and I just wanted to be outside all day. After our last episode, there was no way Mom wanted to have to go searching for us again so she went outside with us every single time.

Apparently I am the instigator when it comes to running off so Mom kept a close eye on me. If I wandered just a little too far Mom tells me she was going to "kick my butt". I love when Mom says she's going to kick my butt!! She tries to actually kick my butt while I try to protect it and we run around all crazy. That is fun... especially outside. Once I was running so fast and not watching where I was going and almost slammed into the back of the car. Good thing Mom hollared my name right away, which made me stop.

And then, Mom was trying to figure out a way we could be outside where she didn't have to constantly keep an eye on us. She went out to the back deck to ponder the situation and I wanted to follow her out but she wouldn't let me and shut the screen door. Dummy me... I thought I could still follow her out and slammed right into the screen door!! It stunned me a little but I was okay.

Once Dad got home he figured out a plan so we could be outside unsupervised.

DSC07322.jpg

What the heck?!?! He blocked off our exit to the back yard!!! This did not make us happy.

DSC07323.jpg

There must be a way to escape... we just have to figure it out.

Bad boys, bad boys

Hi everyone! Well, whoever still visits us cuz it's been a while. Tank and I haven't been up to much these day except trouble. Since the weather has been getting nicer, we have really been itching to be outside running around.

In fact, just this morning we went out to do our business and went way back in the field. Mom wasn't too happy with us cuz she had to come outside in her jammies to find us when we didn't hear her hollar. Guess she nearly called out the troops (Dad) when she saw the deer and turkey running away. She thought me and Tank were actually chasing them!! We weren't though... we were exploring the woods!

Mom was very angry when she finally found us. We had to go in our crates for a while. Tank was really scared cuz Mom never, ever hollars at us like that and he was shaking like you wouldn't believe. Tank was even scared to come out of the crate when Mom said it was time. I wasn't scared though. I now know we were bad and we had our punishment but when my crate door opens... I'm outta there!!

February 10, 2007

The Big Lug!

I guess this is payback for me peeing on Tank the other day. It's not bad enough he steals my sun but then he has to lay on me.

Tank must still think he's a little pup yet because he is always laying on me. I guess he just loves me but man, that boy is heavy! Not only does he still lay on me but he also still tries to crame himself into my crate with me when Mom and Dad leave the house. We try to tell him he's not a little puppy anymore and he's gotta quit trying to squeeze where he won't fit.

What Did I Do To Deserve This?

Tank

Mom says I've been a very good boy lately because it finally hit me... when Zeus and I go outside, we are suppose to use this time to go potty. Whodda thunk?! I thought going outside was for playtime.

Anyways, Dad took me and Zeus outside to do our business and just as I was going potty, Zeus took a leak... right on me!!! What a dork! That wasn't a very nice thing for him to do especially since it's been really cold outside. That pee could have froze on me. Yep, it's been that cold!!

We Got Busted

Tonight Mom let Zeus and I outside to do our business and we were gone for a really long time. Mom called and called for us and we didn't hear her. (Honest, we didn't!) And then, Mom put on her shoes and jacket and walked around in the dark looking for us. (That is not a good sign.) Finally, we heard her and came running... from way far in a field south of the house.

Mom was pretty upset. When she finally calmed down and we came out of our crates, she noticed my face was really dirty and my paws were really dirty and Zeus was really dirty. Mom and Dad figured out we had been in the field "investigating" a dead deer that two eagles had been feeding on all week. That really upset Mom!! Dad had to give us both a bath.

And to make matters worse, Mom said we can't go outside all by ourselves anymore... at least for the next few anyways.

Scared The Daylights Out Of Me!

This morning Dad was stomping his feet at me, had his hands in the air and was making scarey noises. I didn't like that one bit. The hair stood up all down my back and I was barking a mean bark at him. He said he was only playing but that didn't seem like playing to me! Mom made him stop then I scooted underneath a living room chair really fast. Zeus tried to see what was the matter but I snapped at him, so he left me alone. Mom finally coaxed me out with treats (that always works).

I was still a kinda jumpy when Zeus tried to play with me a little while later and I nipped at him. Mom wasn't very happy about that so she scolded me AND Dad for scaring me like that. Gee whiz, I was only trying to defend myself.

Just Hanging Around

Not much has been happening around here except Dad is out on the road again and he won't be back until Friday. It sure seems like he has been travelling a lot lately! Good thing I have Tank to keep me company because I don't like when Dad leaves.

It has been raining a lot here too and we can't play outside much because we come inside with what Mom calls "mud boots" every single time. Sure doesn't make going outside much fun when we have to wipe our paws and go into our crates until we dry off!

Mom decided to give the blog a new look. She said it needed some more cheery colors. I don't know about that but in my opinion, I think the black and white went just perfect with me and Tank.

Uh oh. Tank is acting all weird again! He's running around the house all by himself! Think I need to calm down that crazy boy before he knocks something over. Later!

November 16, 2006

The New Kid In Town

Hey everybuddy, Tank here! Thought it was time to make my presence known here on Zeus' blog. I guess now you can call it our blog because everything Zeus has, he ends up eventually sharing with me. We're close like that.

Guess the best way to start is to tell you a little bit about myself. I am, of course, a Boston Terrier and about 3 1/2 months old. Yep, just a baby yet. Zeus keeps calling me weird but can I help it if I'm not as mature as him and still learning? In fact, I learned some new things over the past couple of days such as how to lay down for a treat and how to fetch my own toys and bring it back to Mom instead of stealing away the ones Zeus is playing with. It's still more fun to steal away Zeus' toys though! Playing tug-of-war and wrestling around is what brother's are suppose to do. Right? Do you know what the best "toys" are in the whole wide world? Socks! If there is a sock anywhere to be seen, I will swipe it and run around the house all crazy. Sometimes Mom gets mad at me because half the time she can't figure out where I am finding them!

I love, love, love being close to Mom but Zeus hates it and gets all pouty. Sometimes he even gets tears because, according to him, I keep stealing his spots while Mom is watching television or taking a nap. (I think Mom likes me best.) Deep down, I think Zeus really loves having a brother. Otherwise, why would he let me share a crate and snuggle up next to him when we take a nap.

Well, that's about it for now. Now that I've figured out this blog stuff, I'll be back again soon!

Boys Will Be Boys

Hard to believe it's been a month since Mom updated my blog! I told her today she had better get on the stick because pretty soon I'll start losing all my blog buddies.

Life has been pretty decent. Tank is growing so fast and he is almost as tall as me already! (I think he may be a little weird though because his ears still aren't standing up all the way yet.) So... we've just been playing and sleeping and running around all crazy outside. We did have a big scrap a couple of weeks ago and freaked Mom out. Tank got a good hold of my collar and wouldn't let go even after Mom did her "that's enough" thing. He was actually choking me!!

Dad is getting pretty mad at Tank too because he keeps going potty in the house. He goes outside with me but I think he thinks that is playtime. (Told ya he was weird!)

Mom has been debating on making a change to my blog name because I have a brother now. She kinda wants to keep "According To Zeus" but still wants to add something to include Tank. Any ideas? Anyone?

Speaking of blogs, my "cousins" Reggie and Denzel (two black pomeranians) now have one called The Boys. Check 'em out! Reggie and Denzel are pretty cool guys.

Poked and Proded

Dad had to take me to the vet today because the inside of my left ear was really red and was hurting. I'm usually a pretty tough guy but when Dad was playing with me this morning, he bumped that ear and I yelped. That really hurt!!

The vet took a look around, cleaned and swabbed that ear for a sample and then put some ointment on it and gave me antibiotic shot. She said I have a bad ear infection. Now I have to take pills and have my ear cleaned twice a day until it gets better. Not only that but I had to get ALL of my yearly shots today. That did not make me very happy and now I have a lumpy butt.

Now I just want to lay around and rest but Tank keeps bugging me to play. Mom is doing her best to keep him occupied but he is being such a pest. Just give me a day or so and I'll be back to my playful self.

October 4, 2006

Life Is Good

Whoa! It's been a while since an update! I guess things like that will happen when you get busy.

I have really been loving having a brother. Now that Tank is getting a little bigger we've been having way too much fun and getting into a little bit of trouble. We tear around the house like crazy when there are toys involved. One time Mom and Dad laughed really hard when Tank tried to block me while I was running a toy back to Dad. There was no way I could put on my brakes so I had to slam into him. Poor Tank, he actually flew through the air! Really. He didn't get hurt and jumped right back on his feet. Good thing us Bostons are tough!

Mom is not liking when we play with the stuffed toys though. We always end up with gobs of stuffing all over the place. One day I decided I would share Bunny with Tank and while we were playing with it, we had an accident. Bunny got almost completely decapitated! Mom was able to fix up Bunny for me but she now has a strict rule where Bunny now stays upstairs where I sleep. Gosh, I think she was more upset about it then I was!

It's not all fun and games, we do have our quite time too. Tank and I have even gotten close enough that I let him share my crate with me when we sleep.

Warmth and comfort

I Am Not Alone

Tank came to live with us today. I wasn't too sure about this stranger in my house when I first met him but he's okay.

Getting accquanted

I did have to show who is the boss around here once already. Tank tried to cut me off at the pass when I was running for a toy and I had to floor him. He okay though and I think once Tank gets a little bigger, we can have a lot of fun together.

When All Else Fails...

Dad came home for lunch today and would not play with me. Instead, he just sat on the couch and talked to Mom. I really, really wanted him to play with me so I took my toy and laid on the couch next to him and gave him the sad, puppy eyes look (with a little whining thrown in). It worked!!! He grabbed my toy and threw it across the room!

There's Going To Be Some Changes Around Here

For the past few weeks I've heard Mom and Dad saying words like new puppy, brother and tank. What the heck is a tank? All of a sudden they told me yesterday that I'm going to have a brother next week and his name is going to be Tank. They said Tank is just a little guy and he is going to be my buddy... my companion. I guess they figure I need a companion since Winston moved out. They also told me since I'm such a good boy that I'll have to teach Tank all the things I already know such as how to go potty outside instead of in the house.

It could be fun having someone to play with all the time but I'm not so sure I'll like having to share my toys and my bed space in between Mom and Dad. The next few weeks are going to be interesting.

I've Been Tagged

I was tagged by Daisy so that means I have to tell you five weird things about myself and then tag five other people.. I mean dogs.

1. When I sleep or pout, I lay on top of Bunny and suck on his nose.

DSC03730

2. Plastic soda and water bottles make me crazy!!! I grab them and crinkle them and run all around the house like a madman with the bottle in my mouth. If you want proof of how crazy plastic bottles make me, click here and watch the video.

3. I absolutely love Lay's Potato chips! Can't eat just one!!! :D

4. I like the smell of Mom's feet. I sleep by her feet and even smell her socks when she takes them off. I can't help it... I think Mom's feet smell good.

5. Whenever Mom puts on her shoes I go into my crate. She is trying to teach me that every time she puts on her shoes doesn't always mean I have to go to bed.

Now that I finished telling you five weird things about myself, I am suppose to tag five people but I think just about everybody I know has already been tagged except for one. I am tagging Annie.

They're Mine, All Mine!

The flies have been coming out like crazy lately and it's always been my job to catch them and proceed to eat them... you know, keep the house fly free. There was even one time I caught one in mid-air! Mr. Miyagi would have been proud!

All of a sudden Dad pulls out this thing called a fly-swatter and started killing all my flies! This did not make me happy and I let him know it because killing flies is my job!

Killing flies is my job!

Pooped Out

My sleep-over was a whole lot of fun and Annie and I had a blast! We weren't able to go to the beach because it rained but we played and played and played! I think I am all played out. Since I've gotten back home, I've only played a little bit and then spent the rest of the day sleeping.

Click here to see the pictures Auntie Bonnie took yesterday.

Goin' Bumming

Uncle Chip has been at the house working this week and today he asked me if I wanted to go home with him for the night. He said I'll get to play with Annie and go to the beach. Mom was kind of leary about me going but Dad gave me the thumbs up. We gathered up my leash, extra treats and, of course, Bunny.

Things have been getting better with Annie and I since the family spent the 4th of July at her house... we played and had all kinds of fun!

Zeus and Annie taking a breather

If Auntie Bonnie is up to it, maybe she'll take some pictures of my sleep-over and send them to Mom.

The Dogs Days of Summer

It sure has been hot around here lately! A lot more than I am use to. Mom has been trying to keep me cool when I go outside by spraying me with a hose but I'm not liking that method of cooling off very much. And then she tries to use a water bottle with a fan to mist my head. Mom thinks its fun but not me... I try to attack the bottle and bite off the fan.

Today we discovered a good method of staying cool purely by accident... ice chips! Mom was getting some ice cubes for my water (because I wasn't drinking it) and some little chips fell to the floor. I gobbled them right up!!! So, Mom decided to give me a plate of ice chips. I really, really love them... especially the bigger ones.

The bad thing about it being so hot is that I can't spend hardly anytime outside at all and we only play with my toys inside for a short time because we don't have air conditioning. Mom says she doesn't want me to get overheated and have heat exhaustion.

July 2, 2006

Busted

I've been doing some things lately that have been getting me into a little bit of trouble.

First, I discovered that if I see someone coming down the driveway and I'm so excited to see them, I can bounce on the screen door with my front paws and it will open up just enough for me to run outside to greet them.

Then, a few times in the past week Mom caught me in the bathroom. I got chewed out big time for that one. Guess Mom just can't forgive me for the time I pulled all the toilet paper off the roll when I busted out of my crate!

And the worst of all (according to Mom and Dad)... bringing Bunny up on the couch. They said I'm not allowed to do that because Bunny's nose is all wet and soggy and gross. You'd think they would have said something when they saw me dragging Bunny up there but noooo, they had to wait until I was all nice and comfortable!

Uh-oh... I've been busted!

Okay, I do admit it was totally my fault about Bunny but they are to blame for not making sure the screen and bathroom doors were completely shut.

June 16, 2006

Don't Mess With Me

There I was minding my own business, running after my toy, when all of a sudden a box fell out of the sky right in front of me. (Actually, when Dad threw the toy it hit the box and it fell off the table.) That box scared the daylights out of me and I had to make it pay! I attacked that mean old box, pushed it around the room and tore it all to pieces!

Attack the box!

After a short time, my work was done. There wasn't much left to it except shreds of cardboard here and there!

My work is done.

Absence Makes The Heart Grow Fonder

Since we moved back to our own house we haven't had any grass in the yard... only weeds and rocks. I miss being able to run around in the grass. Mom and Dad have been really great about keeping me happy... they have been taking me to a place where there is lots and lots of grass where I can run and play 'til my heart's content.

Dad and I were ready and waiting in the Jeep but Mom was taking forever!

Dad and Zeus waiting on Mom to go for a ride

"I'm ready to run! C'mon Dad, throw the toy!"

C'mon, I'm ready!

"Please Dad, please... throw the toy already!"

Let's go Dad... I wanna play!

"Look at me! I can fly..."

I can fly!

"... and hang in mid-air!"

Jumping for my toy

"Whew! I'm getting pooped!"

Running with my toy

At one point I was running so fast I couldn't keep up with myself and ended up tumbling head over heels in the grass. Mom and Dad laughed.

Good thing Dad brought along his water bottle. He offered me a drink and I lapped up nearly the whole bottle!

Dad offers me water from his bottle

The Feeling Is Mutual

Mom and I spent a lot of quality time together today. I love being with Mom... especially when we snuggled up together while she was watching television.

Snuggling up with Mom

We also played together with "new bunny". She was teasing me and said I could only have the bunny back if I gave her a kiss.

Can I have my bunny, please?

Well, okay... I'll gave her a little kiss and she still didn't hand over my bunny.

A little kiss for Mom

Guess I'll have to give her a big, slobbery one!

Big slobbery kisses

Haha! It worked!

In The Doghouse

This morning I wasn't quite ready to wake up when Dad got ready for work so he left me sleeping with Mom. Well, since Mom works the night shift she stays up really late and sleeps most of the morning away. I tried to wake her up, honest I did, but she wouldn't even move. Guess I need to keep myself occupied until she wakes up! I played with one of Dad's flip-flops, one of Mom's shoes (ones she rarely wears), Mom's wallet (she hardly uses it) and a coffee mug wrapped in tissue paper (I guess it was suppose to be a gift for someone).

When Mom finally woke up I was so happy until she said those four little words... What did you do? Uh oh. I wrecked Dad's flip-flop, Mom's shoe, Mom's wallet and there was tissue paper scattered all over the bedroom! Mom was pretty mad and even threatened to make me sleep in my crate in the bedroom tonight. I don't sleep in my crate in the bedroom very often so I tried to be a good boy the rest of the day. Things were going really well until I had an accident and tinkled on the dining room floor. Those four little words came out of her mouth again. I really hope she forgives me for all the bad stuff I did today and lets me snuggle up next to her in bed tonight.

Belated Birthday

Sorry for being away so long but Mom was out of town and way busy again after she got home. And since I can't very well type this all by myself, I have to wait on her.

I had a birthday this past Thursday... I turned 2 years old! I was a little disappointed because Mom wasn't home for my birthday but we celebrated and did some fun stuff when she got back. She even bought presents for me!!!

First we had birthday cake and I even got to wear a birthday boy button.

DSC05161

I didn't eat any of the cake though... it was a lemon cake and I thought it smelled kind of funny. I wanted nothing to do with it.

Mom bought me some really nice presents. I got a new collar, a blue one with puppy prints on it.

DSC05167

I guess the puppy prints are reflective but I don't know too much about that since I don't spend much time outside at night. But, Mom says the collar looks really good on me... she really likes how good I look in blue.

And then I got a new toy. It's called "Chuck-A-Duck" I wanted to play with that toy as soon as I saw it!

DSC05171

Dad says the "Chuck-A-Duck" is going to be my outside toy and he even took me for a ride down by the lake to play with it. I just ran and ran and ran the whole time we were there. What a great way to celebrate my birthday! I was so pooped out by the end of the day I just flopped down on a rug and fell asleep.

Oh yeah, I also got a silver cannister with bones on it for my treats. The cannister is pretty nice but it's not anything I can wear or play with. Oh well, at least it will keep my treats fresh.

May 29, 2006

It Must Be Summer

The past couple of days sure have been hot! The best way to stay cool is to either take a nice, refreshing bath or lay by the fan.

DSC04893

I would love to lay right in front of the fan but the breeze is just a little too much and makes my ears feel funny.

Mom wasn't too happy with me last night because it was pretty warm in the bedroom and I just wanted to snuggle up all night right next to her. I swear, she spent half the night trying to push me over while I spent half the night trying to stay close!

May 23, 2006

Feelin' Groovy

Today I feel like my old self again! I’m eating, drinking, running around and playing with toys. I just don’t want to quit playing! Guess a whole day and night of rest after the experience I had does wonders. Uncle Chip is a little leery about playing with me outside though because he’s afraid I might get sick again.

Mom stopped giving me the pills for the coughing/hacking since I’m not doing that anymore and they really whack me out. The vets office said if they are doing more harm than good, I probably shouldn’t take them. She still has to give me the antibiotics until they are gone though.

May 22, 2006

Home and Resting

I went into the vet earlier this morning and after I was examined, the doctor said Mom and Dad had to leave me for a few hours. The doctor made me go to sleep while she explored and she found a “grainy substance” behind my soft palatte. (Mom thinks the “grainy substance” is sand because when I play outside with my toys they get all full of sand.) She flushed it out and I was good to go in just a couple hours. When Mom picked me up I was still really groggy and not very happy about the whole situation. I cried and whined all the way home… mostly because I couldn’t pant like normal when I ride in the car.

That stuff the doctor used to put me to sleep was something else! I was walking around the house like I was drunk and Dad made me get off my look-out-the-window couch because I was wobbling and he was afraid I would fall off.

DSC04854

Mom and I went to sleep for several hours this afternoon and I’m feeling a somewhat better now. I’m still not quiet ready to eat my hard food yet but it will take a little time since my throat is really sore. Mom did feed me some cheese though but I found out she hid one of my pills in it without me knowing.

By the way, I’m not very happy with Mom and Dad because they left me at that place… I’ve pretty much ignoring them since I got home, except when they take me outside.

May 21, 2006

Under The Weather

This is pretty much all I’ve been able to do all weekend.

DSC04823

Uncle Chip called Mom at work on Friday afternoon and told her that I had vomited several times and there was a little bit of blood in it. Mom couldn’t leave work so she got a hold of Dad right away. He came home to take care of me. After Dad got home I was only sick once or twice but I still wasn’t myself so he called my doctor. She told Dad I wasn’t allowed to have any food or water for 12 hours and she said the little bit of blood was because I vomited several times and it probably irritated my stomach lining.

My doctor called the next morning to check up on me and, although I wasn’t throwing up anymore, I still had this coughing/hacking kind of thing going on. She told Mom it sound like I have like a blade of grass or something of the sort lodged behind the soft palette in my mouth (I guess it’s pretty common with short-nosed dogs) and if I’m not better by Monday morning I have to go in to see her. It kind of stinks because I can’t run or play like normal without coughing/hacking. Even when I get excited (like when the kids come over) it happens too. Today is a little better… it still happens but not as much as yesterday.

Mom says that when I go in to see my doctor on Monday, I will have to go to sleep for a while so they remove the blade of grass (or whatever it is) lodged behind the soft palette. I'm kind of nervous because I never had to go to sleep before when I saw my doctor.

Two Peas In A Pod

Dad and I love to do lots of things together... go for rides in his Jeep, hang out by the lake, kick back and watch television on the couch and, most of all, play in the mud!

Lots Of Catching Up, Part II

There was all kinds of activity going on at our house this past weekend. Chip and Dad fixed the floor where our old chimney used to be. I wanted to help too but Dad said I couldn’t so I was the official supervisor.

DSC04712

Bonnie also stopped by to help out Uncle Chip putting up doors and priming the drywall in the basement. She brought Annie along too and we had to baby-sit her for a while. I really, really tried to get along with Annie. After all, she is relation and we will be seeing a lot of each other.

DSC04715

Things were going pretty well until she got overly aggressive and whacked me in the eye with her paw. That wasn’t very nice of her, especially since I was just getting over getting bopped in the other eye a few days earlier.

The next day Annie came back and things were going really, really good. I let her sit up on my look-out-the-window couch and we were even running around chasing each other!

DSC04752

There she goes again getting overly aggressive and grabbed me by the neck with her mouth. I don’t like that kind of rough-housing.

There were also lots and lots of people at our house over the weekend. We had Aaron’s birthday party and Rachel’s college graduation party. I wasn’t feeling very well the night before Rachel’s graduation and kept Mom and Dad up half the night. I had a bad tummy ache and ended up having a big accident on the carpet in the bedroom. I felt really bad about it and thought I was in big trouble but Mom and Dad said everything would be okay. After the accident, I felt much better and slept through the rest of the night. It took Mom a while but she finally figured out what gave me a tummy ache… she spilled hamburger grease on the floor and I licked some of it up. Looks like hamburgers are off my list of good things to eat.

Lots Of Catching Up, Part I

Mom has been way busy lately and not had time to keep up with everything up I’ve been up to. Plus, she says our internet connection stinks and uploading pictures and visiting everyone is super slow because we have to use dial-up until the cable is run to our house. I don’t know anything about that stuff but I do know whenever Mom is on the computer, she sits there way longer than she use to. Anyways, here is what I’ve been up to, Part I. …

When Dad was away last weekend I had to stay with the kids another night while Mom worked. It wasn’t so bad and Kady is really getting use to me being around. She even got up close and personal (sniffed my butt) until I turned around to see what she was doing then she took off running. Kady was really curious when Dave was playing with me though. I think she wanted to get in on some of the action.

DSC02020

I think Winston isn’t like me invading his territory too much though. He wasn’t willing to share his bed with me. He let me put Bunny in the bed but made me sleep on the floor! Guess that is payback from when he slept at our house and I made him sleep in the dog bed while I slept with Mom and Dad.

DSC02025

I got a slight injury that night too. While Dave was playing with me and a rope toy, I got bopped in the eye with the knot of the rope. Man, that really hurt! Dave told Mom I yelped and I never yelp. He felt really bad for hurting me. There was a little swelling for a day or so but the eye is all good now.

Spoil Sports

It's a beautiful day! The rain finally stopped after several days and I can run around outside again. The only problem is we have lots and lots of mud in our yard. Already three times today Mom had to wipe me down with a wet rag when I came inside. And, I was having a blast rolling a big basketball around the yard until Mom and Dad saw how muddy I was getting.

DSC04705

They took the ball away and made me go inside. They really need to loosen up and have some fun too.

Too Tired To Wait

I was fast asleep yesterday under a warm, fleece blank and suddenly I heard Mom open a bag of chips. I couldn’t resist the crinkle of the bag and wanted some so I made my way partially out from under the blanket. Mom took a little too long to offer me some; my eyes got heavy and the warm, fleece blanket felt really good… I fell back asleep in no time without so much as a little taste.

License Revoked

I didn’t even have it a week and Mom took my license away. I wasn’t a bad boy; it was just that my license tag was making the white on my neck turn a funny color.

DSC04691

Bonnie was telling Mom the other day Annie had that problem too but she can’t remember how Bonnie said to get rid of the funny color.

Anyways, Mom is doing a good job keeping me from being lonesome while Dad is away. The other day we took a walk to the edge of the woods and found a bunch of sticks we could play with. We had so much fun playing sticks that we didn’t even notice that little bunch of picker things that got stuck on my collar when we were by the woods. I was really pooped out and slept like a log that night!

And then, when Mom had to work the other night the kids picked me up and took me to their house. It was nice I didn’t have to be all by myself and I got to play with Winston. The kids also have a kitten, Kady, but she doesn’t really like me and is always hissing at me whenever I try to get close and get acquainted. I think it’s because she doesn’t really know me yet. By the time I left to go home, Kady started warming up a little bit. I have to go back the kid’s house again tonight when Mom works so it’s a good chance Kady might like me even more by the time I leave!

Having A Rough Time

Uncle Chip came over to work yesterday but took some time to play with me outside when Mom and Dad went to town. I had a lot of fun running and playing outside with a big basketball and got mud all over my face and head. When Mom got home she saw all the dried mud on me she brushed it all off. Later last night I had bumps and a red rash all over my face and under my mouth where the dried mud was. It was awful! Dad cleaned me up real good and today the bumps are gone and most of the red is clearing up. Mom wanted to take a picture of it to show you but I wouldn’t let her… it wasn’t pretty and you wouldn’t want to see me like that.

And then, Dad left today on a long trip. He won’t be back until next Wednesday. I was really sad when he left and had great big tears in my eyes. I get real lonesome when Dad is away. Mom bought me a treat to make me feel better… my favorite chips, Lays. It made me feel better for a little while but I still miss Dad.

Puppies Have Feelings Too

We had to baby-sit Winston the other day and he stayed overnight again. I didn’t let him sleep on the bed with Mom and Dad though. That is my territory. He had to sleep in the dog bed on the floor. I got really jealous cuz Dad was paying so much attention to him too. He gave Winston a haircut (I guess he needed it bad) AND a bath.
DSC04678

I wanted a bath too but Dad said I didn’t need it.

Today Dad was trying to put this thing on me called a harness. I did not like it one bit!

DSC04680

I just flopped down on the couch after he finally figured out how it went on and just laid there. I even refused to go outside until Dad took that goofy looking thing off of me!

And then he made me feel really silly by putting a pair of glasses on me!

DSC04681

One good thing happened today! I got my license. The community was having this thing where all dogs and cats in the community had to get rabies shots and licenses. It was a good thing I’m all caught up on my shots. A guy who was there thought I needed one and when I saw that needle I started shaking like a leaf. I don’t like shots! Good thing Dad told him I didn’t need one! Once that guy put that needle away, I was very friendly to the people because they loved me. They told Mom and Dad I was a very good looking boy and very well behaved!

DSC04649

Oh Great Doggie Spirit, please bring me a new toy just like this one. I love this toy and it's not so much fun to play with anymore since it lost it's little bell. And thank you Great Doggie Spirit for not letting me choke when the bell piece fell out of the toy and I thought it was something new to eat.

Home Sweet Home

I am so enjoying being back at our real house again. Mom stays I'm more relaxed and less hyper then I have been in a long while.

Here is Dad and I enjoying the beautiful weather today on our completely finished front porch.

And here I am enjoying laying in the sun on my look-out-window couch.

They Keep Laughing At Me

Mom and Dad keep laughing at me lately. These things that happen just happen... it's not really my fault.

First, Mom takes me for a ride and gives me a treat for the ride I guess to distract me and I won't be so nervous. And then while I'm eating that treat, Mom tells me to hang on because we are going over the railroad tracks (some bumpy ones). Now, how in the world am I suppose to hang on while I'm eating a treat? We go over the railroad tracks and and soon as we hit that bump my butt and back legs bounce right off the seat while my front legs and treat stay put. I didn't fall off the seat though because I had a good grip going on! Mom thought that was way funny because she almost had to pull over she was laughing so hard.

Next, I went outside with Dad last night... we are having a new porch put on and just the frame is there. I knew it and I saw it when we went out. When it was time to go back in the house, I forgot... I jumped right up on the porch and fell right through to the ground!!! It didn't hurt but Dad laughed and laughed.

Last but not least, Dad was playing with me and one of my toys. I tried to lunged for the toy from the chair but I slipped... I went head over heels right onto the floor. Whodda thunk I was a gymnast! Anyways, Mom and Dad caught that one and just laughed as I got up and tried to compose myself.

April 8, 2006

So... Much... Excitement

Today I went for a ride with Mom to our real house and... and... I got to run around the yard all crazy and... and... we're getting ready to move home and... and... Dad uncovered my look-out-the-window-couch and... and... I got to sit up there and look out the window!!! (This is a picture from before we had to move.)

DSC04091

The view is much different now but I really missed being on my couch and enjoyed looking out the window again.

Now I'm all tuckered out and need a nap before Mom takes me back to our real house to be with Dad when she goes to work.

I almost forgot... and I got to go for a ride to the kids house and saw Winston too. He was happy to see me today!

How Windy Is It?

It's so windy outside today I can barely stand in one spot to do my business! I don't even want to be out there very long for fear of being wisked away.

So, today has been a lazy day of a little bit of playing and a lot of sleeping. And, Mom scolded me for making a puddle in the kitchen. It wasn't just your ordinary puddle... it was huge! :::sorry mom:::

Life Is Good

A flurry of activity has been happening around here since my last entry. All kinds of company, things to do and places to go.

Mom's best friend came over the other day and brought her little boys too. The boys played outside with me. I thought we were going to play sticks and then I found out the things they were throwing for me were pine cones. Pine cones taste yucky! Don't ever try to pick one up and run with it. Blech!

The other night was Rachel's birthday and the birthday party was at our house. Bonnie came and I was so happy to see her! I really, really like Bonnie. It was nice because she didn't bring her girl dog, Annie along. (Annie makes me nervous.)

Not At All Like I Remember

Since yesterday was such a beautiful day, Dad took me for a ride by our house so I could run and play 'til my heart's content. I was a bit puzzled when we went to our old yard...

DSC04566

Where the heck did our house go? I know it use to be here!

We went right across the road and found our house... it's in a new spot with a bigger yard. Woo hoo! More room to run! Can you see me? I'm right in the middle with that big piece of wood hanging out of my mouth!

DSC04516

I had to keep my eye on this big scary looking thing hanging around our new yard. Thought for sure it was going to scoop me up!

Sure Signs Spring Is Here

The sun is shining today and the snow is almost gone. Mom decided it was time to put away my snowman collar and put the blue one back on me. Mom says my neck is getting "thick"... in other words, fat.

DSC04511

For your information Mom, that is not fat... it is muscle!

DSC04512

Anyways, since it is such a beautiful day Mom asked me if I wanted to go outside and play with sticks. HOORAY! It's been so long since I've been outside playing with sticks. I got so excited that I ran around the house like a madman while Mom was putting on her shoes. Mom said I had to calm down a little bit because I was running so fast I was crashing into doors and chairs. I didn't care I was crashing into things... I was going to play outside with sticks!!!

That sure was fun but I wasn't allowed to run very far AND the sticks here are really wimpy compared to the sticks at our other house. Blech, the stick was coming apart in my mouth and I had to spit it out! After that, we went back in the house and Mom vacuumed the whole house. I don't like that vacuum machine very much and tried to attack it the whole time.

All this activity completely pooped me out. I just flopped on the floor for a much needed rest.

Together Again

The kids came over for dinner tonight and brought Winston along for a visit. It's been a long time since the whole family has been together at one time and I was so excited to see Winston! Winston was happy to see me too but I think he was more happy to see Dad.

I'm not quite sure what Aaron was trying to do to me but I played along while he entertained himself. Aaron can sometimes be weird that way.

March 17, 2006

Happiness Is...

1) Dad coming home tonight after being gone all week.

2) Mom being all done with the day shift.

3) No more spending practically all day alone in my crate.

Even though Uncle Chip stopped by to check up on me all week while Dad was away and Mom was at work, I was still super lonesome. Uncle Chip told Mom today that I wasn't myself because when he came by yesterday I wouldn't even come out of my crate to go outside... he had to coax me out. And then when I came back inside, I went right back into the crate. Thank goodness the long, lonely days are done!

If You Can't Beat 'Em, Join 'Em

Mom came home from work this morning and I was sooo happy to see her (she's been working way too much this past week). Yes, she did pet me and play with me for a short time but it wasn't enough. I wanted to spend more time with her so I sat on her lap while she read the paper.

DSC04456

We're reading the sports section... our local high school won their 6th District Championship title in a row. Eh, not that interesting but at least I'm with Mom.

March 9, 2006

Abracadabra

I had a big surprise waiting for Mom when she got home from work today... ME!!! I greeted her at the door. She was a bit puzzled because Dad always put me in my crate before he leaves for work. Yeah, Dad did put me in my crate when he left but I decided it was time to work my magic and make a break for it. I busted out of that joint!

Upon further investigation of the house, I knew right away Mom was not happy with me. I did have fun though... I went crazy pulling the toilet paper off the roll and knocking things off the end tables.

DSC04405

As soon as Mom said, "What did you do?", I knew I was in big trouble. She didn't even have to tell me to go in my bed... I just went there and took Bunny with me.

March 8, 2006

Woo Hoooooo!

Mom, Dad and I took a ride to our real house today to check out the progress on it being moved. It felt sooo good being back in my own yard that I just ran and ran and ran. The only difference was there was not much snow or grass anymore... just mud. I was FREEEEE and totally loving it!!! Mom tried to get pictures of me running all over the yard but I was running so fast they didn't turn out.

Mom and Dad were laughing because I got so muddy.

DSC04387

Mom wouldn't let me sit on her lap on the way home. I had to sit in the backseat on a blanket.

DSC04391

When we got home they made me stay in the kitchen so I wouldn't get mud on the carpet and then Dad made me take a bath.

DSC04395

See how dirty the water is.

DSC04398

Ahhhhh, all nice and clean again!

DSC04401

Didn't Dad do an awesome job making me all squeaky clean?

The Things I Must Do

"Mom, will you play with me?"

DSC04366

"What?!? You will only play with me if you can take my picture first? That's just not right."

DSC04370

"Okay, okay. But this is the best you are gonna get."

Ridin' Around

Dad took me to work with him again today so I wouldn't have to be home alone for such a long time. (Mom actually had to work a morning shift.) This is the third time he's taken me to work with him since we moved and I am loving it. Everyone always tells Dad that I am such a good boy and listen well. My favorite people to visit while there is Jackie (Dad's secretary) and Lisa (a co-worker). They are always happy to see me. There are two people I don't like so much and bark at them whenever I see them... "The Cookie Man" and his wife. "The Cookie Man" brings people treats for Dad every week. He may bring people treats but he is one scary looking guy!

Mom has been sick the past couple of days with a bad toothache so Dad and I took her for a ride to get some medicine for her tooth. It's been a long time, since summertime, that I taken so many rides! I got to sit on Mom's lap. Mom says we really need to get one of those things for the car so I can see out the window because I'm getting heavy.

After we picked up Mom's medicine, we took a ride into town to the car wash. It was my first experience in a car wash and it wasn't very pleasant. When Dad shot that blast of water at my window, I freaked out... barking, jumping and crying, trying to attack the water. After Mom reassured me everything would be alright, I settled down to watch. It was alright... as long as I stayed away from that water blast.

Having Issues Here

I have been very clingy with Mom lately. It must be the insecurity of being in a different house or something of the sort.

Whenever she tries to be on her computer for any amount of time, there I am, standing up on her leg staring at her OR pouting while laying at her feet OR whining while standing in the doorway. Whenever she is on the phone, there I am, right in her face. Mom works nights so Dad and I are usually asleep by the time she gets home. Usually I am very happy and content sleeping with Dad but since we've been in this house, I've been waking up every night when Mom gets home and cry at the bedroom door to get out and see her. It's not like Mom ignores me... she plays and pays attention to me all the time. Lately I just want her total attention and constantly follow her around. I think she is starting to get a little annoyed.

I heard Mom talking to Dad about it today and Dad thinks it is because right after we moved into this house, Mom left me and went out of town for a couple of days. I don't want her to leave me again.

March 1, 2006

I Feel So Lost

It's been such a long time since I've been able to post. So much has been happening in my life.

Right after my last entry, Mom and Dad took a trip to Las Vegas. I was sad because they were leaving me but I was in good hands with Uncle Chip. He absolutely loves dogs and we spent so much time playing together.

Mom and Dad have been very busy these days. They had to pack up stuff from our house so we could move to another house. (Our real house is being moved across the road.) It is just temporary but I was so afraid of leaving the only home I've ever had. I was really confused the night Mom packed up all my food, toys and blankets. Once I saw my crates and blankets going out the door, I was really confused. I rode with Mom to our new house and cried and the whole trip. Mom tried to comfort me by rubbing my back but it didn't help. Dad told Mom I was crying because I don't like going for rides in the dark. That is true but seeing all my belongings packed up made me really nervous.

So, here we are in our new house. Everything is so different. I'm not allowed to be outside by myself anymore because Mom and Dad are afraid I will wander too far. Afterall, there are many houses and the road is really closeby plus there is a lot more traffic. Back at our own house we were the only ones for at least a mile so Mom and Dad pretty much let me roam wherever I wanted. Also, I'm having a tough time being comfortable here. Every little noise makes me jump or want to go investigate it.

I am really looking forward to the day when we get to move back into our own house. Dad says it should only be a couple more weeks.

January 28, 2006

What A Day!

It has been a very stressful day!

Dad took out this big thing called a vaccuum so he could suck up all the dust bunnies from under the furniture. When he said suck up all the bunnies, I thought for sure he was going to go after Bunny. That vaccuum thing isn't getting anywhere near my Bunny! As soon as Dad turned on the vaccuum and it started making that horrible noise and sucking up the dusting bunnies, I went into attack mode... barking and growling and trying to attack it. Stay...Away...From...My...Bunny!!!

And then, we had a visitor... Bonnie. Bonnie use to be one of my bestest buddies. That is, until one day I smelled the scent of another dog on her. Things have never been the same since. Anyways, I saw Bonnie's truck pull up and I was so excited until I saw the other dog coming up to my house. Mom says this other dog, Annie, is my cousin. Well, Annie came into the house and I F-R-E-A-K-E-D O-U-T! The hair stood up on my back, drool was coming from my mouth, my ears went straight back and I was shaking like a leaf. I didn't care for Annie very much. Mom says it is probably because Annie is a girl dog and very aggressive. I have never seen a girl dog before... just boy dogs. Bonnie and Annie stayed for a little while and I just could not get use to that girl dog. It actually took Mom and Dad a little time after she left to get me back to my old self again. Is this really how boy dogs act when they see a girl dog? Mom and Dad hope I start liking her pretty soon because she is now a member of the family.

January 27, 2006

Dieting Stinks!

Mom went on a diet three weeks ago and I've not been happy about it.

First and foremost, she won't buy one of my very favorite snacks anymore... Lay's Potato Chips. I guess last night she felt guilty because she was depriving me of my beloved Lay's, so she bought a little grab bag before she left work... just for me! When Mom showed me that bag of Lay's and asked me if I wanted some, I got so excited that I was licking my lips and my mouth started watering. Boy, they sure tasted good after all this time!

Secondly, she exercises just about every day on this thing called the Ab Lounge. I don't like that Ab Lounge thing! The first day she exercised, it bonked me right on the head. Mom said it was my own fault because I was too nosy and got in the way. Well, I steer clear of that machine now.

Today when Mom took me upstairs and said it was time to exercise, I followed her into the room. Must not forget to do stretches before we begin!

DSC04155.jpg

I think all this exercise crap is rubbing off on me!

January 26, 2006

Hello World!

Mom thinks it's about time I made a few new friends, so she made me my very own blog. I did have a real good friend once... Winston. He has since moved out of our house when the kids moved. Sometimes I really miss Winston!

Anyways, today the sun is shining and it is pretty warm outside (in the 30s) for this time of year but Mom won't let me play outside. There are lots of big huge trucks driving close to the yard and she is afraid I will get too nosy and chase after them. So here is pretty much what I'm up to today...
